Intensive Outpatient Program
Intensive Outpatient Program
Hyde Park in Tampa offers an Intensive Outpatient Program, otherwise known as IOP, for patients deemed appropriate. This level of care serves a step-down from our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), assisting women in the transition back into society while continuing to receive support and treatment. Our professionals at our IOP in Hyde Park focus on the many skills learned during a patient’s treatment process, while also concentrating on relapse prevention methods and skill-building that will be essential post-treatment. This level of care is a crucial component of the rehab process, as it promotes healthy lifestyle changes that influence continued recovery and ongoing success.
The Importance of IOP at Hyde Park
When a patient first enters drug and alcohol rehab, they begin the process in a highly structured environment, such as a medically monitored detox or residential treatment. During this time, they have very little connection to the outside world, which is done in order to remove all distractions and negative influences. Nevertheless, our experience tells us that when an individual returns to their life immediately afterward, with little supervision, the potential for relapse is great.
Intensive Outpatient Programming allows for the patient to continue receiving addiction therapy, while taking the steps to live a life outside of treatment. Women are encouraged to seek employment, attend school, volunteer, and participate in the local 12-step recovery community. While IOP is less restrictive than other levels of care, patients can still feel supported as they begin branching out in the real world. Our rehab specialists continue to guide each woman every step of the way through the journey of recovery.
How IOP Works
Our Intensive Outpatient Program is developed in a way that prepares the patient for life after treatment. It is our goal that each woman is equipped with the necessary tools to live a productive lifestyle, and feels confident in making the transition after treatment has concluded. During this stage of care, our treatment experts focus on maintaining everything learned thus far, while also implementing relapse prevention techniques and life skills, such as seeking employment, resume building, budgeting, self-care, and establishing themselves in the recovery community.
At this time, patients will participate in a variety of therapeutic modalities and holistic practices, which our clinicians incorporate into all practices. These can include, but are not limited to, EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Family Therapy, Trauma-Focused Therapy, meditation, nutritional counseling, and so much more. Clinical hours vary depending on patient readiness and progress in treatment. In the first phase of IOP, women attend therapy Monday through Friday, for approximately 2-3 hours per day. In the second phase, clinical hours take place 3 days a week, for 3 hours per day.
As a less restrictive level of care, patients are permitted to leave campus from 9 am to 10 pm each day, upon clinical approval. Any time spent off-site must be utilized in a constructive manner, and can be spent job searching, going to school, meeting with a sponsor, attending meetings, volunteer work, and spending time with family members. Before treatment is complete, patients are encouraged to participate in our Alumni Program at Banyan Hyde Park. Here, women have access to a large network of sober individuals, as well as our Alumni Specialists to support them on their path of recovery.
